Makes Me So Angry

My research deeper into GMO's and the health hazards they present often leaves me feeling a low, slow boil in my blood. Every time I read a report with facts stating the EPA, our very own government, has knowingly put Americans at risk I want to scream. It is beyond insane to believe for one minute that we must accept the use of GMO's to be able to feed the world as populations continue to soar. Recent research proves so far GE crops have done nothing to improve global food security and there is little reason to believe they ever will.

The major cause of global hunger today is farmers lack of resources, their lack of being able to get there products to market because of poor roads. Not being able to afford the amount of fertilizers recommended for their crops. Lacking storage as about 1/3 of food grown in developing countries is wasted due to lack of storage. Instead of investing in toxic seeds that ultimately deposit those toxins  in our bodies we should be investing in improving the infrastructure of developing countries. With better roads, better transportation and storage facilities,  world food supply would increase. These are  just a few simple, effective solutions to implement a change, however, these changes would not create huge profits for big Ag. Did you know that creating just one genetically engineered crop variety can cost upwards of 130 million!! Insanity. If big Ag really cared about feeding a hungry world they would invest in strategies that work not in GMO's that only increase their profits while doing nothing to increase the world food supply.  In the spring of this year again more  eyes were opened with the World Health Organizations (WHO) report on glyphosate, which is one of the world's most used herbicide.

Read on below:

Sustainable Pulse has discovered documents from 1991 that show how the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) themselves were fully aware of glyphosate’s carcinogenic potential.

On February 11, 1985 the carcinogenic potential of glyphosate was first considered by an EPA panel, called the Toxicology Branch Ad Hoc Committee. The Committee, in a consensus review dated March 4, 1985, then classified glyphosate as a Class C Carcinogen. A Class C Carcinogen has  ”Suggestive evidence of carcinogenic potential” according to the EPA.

This Class C classification was changed by the EPA six years later to a Class E category which suggests “evidence of non-carcinogenicity for humans”. Mysteriously this change in glyphosate’s classification occurred during the same period that Monsanto was developing its first Roundup-Ready (glyphosate-resistant) GM Crops.

It is now 2015 and WHO has put glyphosate’s cancer causing ability back in the spotlight. The question is who is to blame for this shocking lack of protection for public health? The answer is the U.S. government, who have pushed glyphosate around the World as part of their campaign to support the U.S. biotech industry in their attempt to dominate global agriculture.

The thirty-year glyphosate cancer cover up will go down in history as yet another failure, by the U.S. government, the EPA and worldwide regulators, to put the health of the general public before the need to protect and expand company profits.

It seems our government is more interested in dominating the Ag industry than protecting Americans. Again insanity, and it has to stop. Please continue to share this valuable information to help make a change.

I gather so much valuable information from many different sources. Sustainable Pulse is one of my most favorites.  Check them out.

I Am A Warrior

Events in life mold us into the person we are to become. Tough times make most strong,  resilient and smarter. If we are lucky with each we grow and change for the better. In times of extreme stress and sadness we do what we can to survive and overcome and in most cases form an everlasting resolve.

I am this way in my battle to end Alzheimer's. I fought  for and with my beautiful sweet mom for over 12 years with this nightmare. I cared for her and witnessed pieces of her fade away by the day. I saw first hand how devastated my amazing dad was watching the love of his life, for 50 plus years,  battle and lose in the end. It changed me, it made me angry,  made me want to do something. So I became a warrior. A woman on a mission to do something to put an end to such sadness and loss.

I formed a committee of warriors in support of finding an end to Alzheimer's . We had our first annual fundraiser this year and did well. We organized a trail ride and picnic in the park with each rider collecting sponsors for their horse and ride. We worked really hard and learned a lot all while raising funds for the fight. Each year will be even bigger and better .

In my quest for healthy living and everything green I am always researching remedies and new discoveries in the battle against Alzheimer's and ways to treat it. I found this interesting article so I wanted to share.

Could the active ingredient in marijuana, responsible for its characteristic "high," help turn the tide against the accelerating Alzheimer's epidemic?

A remarkable study published in the journal Molecular Pharmacology in 2006, found that this long vilified plant contains a compound with not one, but two therapeutic properties ideal for addressing both the surface symptom (memory problems) and root cause (brain plaque) of Alzheimer's disease.[i]  This is an ironic finding, considering that the prevailing stereotype is that using marijuana "fries" the brain, leading to debilitating memory issues.

Researchers discovered that the psychoactive component of marijuana, Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), both "competitively inhibits the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE) as well as prevents AChE-induced amyloid β-peptide (Aβ) aggregation."

On the first account, THC's ability to inhibit the AChE enzyme, is not unlike the mechanism of action behind most Alzheimer's drugs on the market today. Drugs like donepezil (trade name Aricept), for instance, by targeting and inhibiting the brain enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE), result in an increase in brain levels of this neurotransmitter, which in turn, results in symptom reduction, i.e. improved memory. Donepezil, however, is riddled with controversy due its well-known association with seizures, which likely reflects its intrinsic neurotoxicity.  It is, in fact, a chemical in the same general chemical class as venom, insecticides and chemical war agents, such as nerve gas.

On the second account, THC's ability to prevent the acetylcholinesterase-associated amyloid β-peptide (Aβ) aggregation, i.e. brain plaque, indicates that it may, as the researchers noted, "directly impact Alzheimer's disease pathology." In fact, they found "Compared to currently approved drugs prescribed for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, THC is a considerably superior inhibitor of Aβ aggregation, and this study provides a previously unrecognized molecular mechanism through which cannabinoid molecules may directly impact the progression of this debilitating disease."

What is so encouraging about this research, and which the researchers described as "noteworthy," is the following:

THC is a considerably more effective inhibitor of AChE-induced Aβ deposition than the approved drugs for Alzheimer's disease treatment, donepezil and tacrine, which reduced Aβ aggregation by only 22% and 7%, respectively, at twice the concentration used in our studies.7 Therefore, AChE inhibitors such as THC and its analogues may provide an improved therapeutic for Alzheimer's disease, augmenting acetylcholine levels by preventing neurotransmitter degradation and reducing Aβ aggregation, thereby simultaneously treating both the symptoms and progression of Alzheimer's disease.

THC, of course, is only one of a wide range of cannabinoids in the plant marijuana. Not only is there already plentiful information on the neuroprotective properties of marijuana compounds, but there is also a sizeable body of clinical and/or biomedical research indicating the medicinal value of this plant in over 150 health conditions. Naturopathic Healing

In my daily search of alternatives to toxic pharmaceuticals  and ways to heal naturally I find a lot of gimmicks, pills and wild promises. It takes time and patience to read, watch and sort through the internet noise.

Every once and awhile I discover something real. When I do I will research to learn how I can ad this new find to my green living arsenal. I share because I want you grow your arsenal to better health and a green life.

I myself am blessed with a basically healthy digestive system. Many family members and friends are not. My husband suffers from acid reflux and indigestion daily. His list of toxic medications can vary as he has tried them all. It worries me that he has been on them for many years as we all know the reports of how prolonged use can  cause a whole host of other health issues. My daughter has lived with digestive problems most of her life. She too takes medication daily to deal with the indigestion and discomfort. She as well as countless others should not have to suffer and rely on toxic meds to find relief. Did you know that a person is only supposed to take these types of acid reducers for 8 weeks at the most? And these meds do not cure the issues they just mask them to a tolerable level. Did you know that prolonged use has been linked to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's dementia? I find this information terrifying as both of these run in my family.

In my work the last few days  I found a nutritionist who has specialized in healing the body  without drugs, crazy pills or gimmicks. Jeff Martin was a long time sufferer of chronic digestive issues. In his quest to find relief, a better way to eat and treat your body, he has found naturopathic solutions. He combined his knowledge in a simple easy to follow guide. Just what I need in my green living arsenal. I just ordered two, one for my daughter and one for my husband and I.

The link below will take you to meet Jeff and learn how you can start healing today.
